I just came across this article requesting testing info for printed materials which include stickers, cards, flash cards, probably cd inserts, etc. I know an amendment (or better yet repealing this law) is ultimately a more practical solution than p…

This is the first story I have seen done by reuters. I have been checking on a regular basis and have seen nothing CPSIA related. This is also the largest company I have seen who is actually attributing loss of sales due to the CPSIA. I'm sure there…

I'm trying to figure craft kits out. I think I've just overthought this issue. If I sell a kit that has many different components, say a bracelet kit that makes 12 bracelets (not what I do but...). Does the kit I package with all of the materials: j…

My understanding is that Toys R' Us, Walmart and others had already started requiring that their vendors comply with their own set total lead content early 2008, which is lower than the August dates. They were probably privy to what was going to hap…

The understanding I have about phthalates is that they are banned from all products intended for play by children 12 and under, as well as all childcare articles intended for children 3 and under that would be used to facilitate sleep, teething, fee…

In case anyone hasn't seen this. On the heels of the courts' phthalate decision there is a spark of hope. I've been wondering how the potential exemptions the CPSC was taking comments on would be affected by the stay of enforcement for section 101,…

CPSIA Testing Data Required

I just came across this article requesting testing info for printed materials which include stickers, cards, flash cards, probably cd inserts, etc. I know an amendment (or better yet repealing this law) is ultimately a more practical solution than product by product exemptions, but thought this was useful for those in the non-book printing industry.

CPSC General Counsel Advisory Opinion: Books and the CPSIA

The Cpsc General Counsel has just issued a devastating opinion on books and printed materials primarily intended for children. Hopefully this will create an overwhelming response by the publishing industry and educators across the country. If not, I guess we can send our children overseas to get an education!

Business Week CPSIA Discussion

Just wanted to bring attention to a piece that businessweek.com is working on. The reporter is asking for comments so that he can add something new to the discussion and news pieces that are already out there. He also mentions he is "stunned by is the scale of the grassroots effort online".

I sent emails to all the commissioners on the CPSA this morning, asking them to continue the stay. Nancy Nord answered almost immediately, stating that she agrees the stay needs to be continued.

Help Support the new CPSIA Documentary!

A CPSIA documentary is in the works. Since the mainstream media seems to think this is not worthy of their precious air time, this is another great way to get the word out and put our leaders on the "hot seat" to explain themselves. We know that the impact of this travesty is widespread. Now we just need to collect our pennies together and help support the documentary. We have over 700 members here. Imagine if everyone gave just $20....(that would be $14,000 and good chunk of the cost). Here is a quick way to make a donation.

This is a donation to support the making of a CPSIA documentary (see link for details). CPSIA-Central is not affiliated with this organization, and is offering this space for the paypal button in support of the documentary.
